17-17 STUDIO JACKET
Named after 17-17 Troutman St. - a former textile factory on the edge of Queens and Brooklyn. Now home to artists, craftsmen, architects, florists and the Ballard studio.
The chore jacket began as a working man's garment. We wanted to preserve that utility, but refine it into something that feels precious at the beginning of its life while building it in a way that allows it to be properly beaten to a pulp.
We cut the 17-17 in New York City from a dense 320 GSM cotton twill, brushed to give it an unexpectedly soft hand without sacrificing the structure and durability that drew us to the fabric in the first place. It's finished with our signature smoke mother-of-pearl buttons, suppression tabs at the waist, oversized patch pockets, and a pointed tab cuff.
It's a jacket meant to get better through wear. The twill will soften further, the edges will break in, and the character of the garment will become increasingly your own.

A Note From Ballard
Ballard is independently owned and remains a one-man operation. Every product, order, and shipment passes through the same pair of hands here in New York. We’re building this company slowly and thoughtfully.
Thank you for being a part of it.
